Clean glass
Cleaning the glass soap dispenser is very simple. You only need warm soapy water to remove the residue on the bottle. If your bottle is decorative and has ridges or other hard-to-reach areas, you can use a small brush to adapt to these small spaces. Make sure it has soft bristles to avoid scratching the glass. If your glass does not contain lead, just put it in the dishwasher for quick disinfection and cleaning. Be sure to clear all content beforehand.
Mild dish soap is also suitable for glass. Be sure to rinse thoroughly to avoid soap buildup and film residue on the bottle. Shake off the water inside, dry the outside with a hand towel or paper towel to prevent the formation of water spots, and then air dry on a shelf.
Clean metal soap or lotion pump
Your soap dispenser may come with a variety of metal pump options. Stainless steel, copper and chromium are popular choices. Regardless of the type of metal on the soap dispenser, it needs to be cleaned occasionally.
In order to reduce the chance of clogging and pump failure, use low-concentration high-quality soap. Low pH soaps are more acidic and can cause corrosion of metal parts over time. It can also damage the rubber and plastic parts of the dispenser. Make sure you are diluting any concentrated soap you buy, otherwise it is more likely to clog the pump.
To clean the pump, simply rinse the pump with warm water and a little vinegar. For stubborn clogs, use a little more vinegar; toothpicks may come in handy. Let it dry thoroughly before adding soap to the dispenser. It is recommended to flush the pump with warm water once a month; or fill it up each time.
